NORMAL, ILL. – More than $8200.00 will benefit the Illinois
4-H Foundation and the Illinois Foundation FFA thanks to the
first annual Blue & Green Golf Scramble held August 4 at the
Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington, Ill.
The scramble, co-sponsored by 1st Farm Credit
Services, Normal, Ill. And Farm Credit Services of Illinois,
Champaign, Ill., brought 33 golfers to the course for 18
holes of golf played as a best ball scramble. The evening
dinner event featured a silent auction with proceeds
totaling more than $1000.00.
“We are pleased to be able to support the future of the
agricultural industry by hosting this event,” said Wayne
Gustafson, President and CEO, 1st Farm Credit
Services. “Our involvement, from planning the event to
bringing golfers, has been a positive one for our company
and for the foundations.”
“We also appreciate the co-sponsors of the event, that
donated materials or monies to make the event a success,”
said Ron Frenn, CEO of Farm Credit Services of Illinois.
“Working together, all organizations benefited from an
enjoyable day.”
As an additional contribution, Farm Credit Services of
Illinois and 1st Farm Credit Services matched the
total amount raised, an amount equaling more than $4100.00.
In addition, all costs for printing materials were donated
by the two associations.
Illinois FFA provides agricultural education programs to
nearly 16,000 youth members in about 300 FFA chapters.
Illinois 4-H provides research-based positive youth
development activities to more than 280,000 youth with the
help of more than 26,000 volunteers.
The second annual Blue & Green Golf Scramble is scheduled
for August of 2006 at Prairie Vista Golf Course in
