Responsibilities: |
This is an entry level/trainee position with 1st Farm Credit Services. This position will have a 6 to 12 month assignment in the Lending Services Department in Normal, Illinois. Upon completion of this assignment, this person will be considered for either: 1) a position in the Lending Services Department or 2) placement in the Field Training program which would lead to a position as an Assistant Vice President (relationship manager/loan officer) in one of the field offices in central, western or northern Illinois.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES (during Lending Services assignment): Client Relationships: Serves as a resource to Association personnel to provide sound and appropriate credit guidance. Supports all Association goals and achievement of market share growth by the Vice President - Relationship Managers (loan officers in the field offices). Participates as a member of the Lending Services team as a goal oriented team driven by exceptional service goals.
Credit Expertise: Applies basic credit skills in Association Policy to provide credit underwriting originated by Vice President/Relationship Managers. Maintains an understanding of the FSA and state guarantee programs and utilizes the programs as necessary in the administration of credit.
Central Lending Processing: This position provides prompt turnaround on loan/lease processing, incorporating sound decisions on the loan/lease structure, terms, pricing, and documentation. The resources employed will be commensurate with the risk and need. This position performs credit analysis on loans/leases, structure, and provides documentation of those decisions. Processes loans/leases originated by Vice President/Relationship Managers. Creates and improves a system to log the progress of requests through Lending Services, administers the activity, and communicates results to Association staff. Assists in lending documentation preparation as directed by Vice President, Lending Services. |

Qualifications: |
This position requires a Bachelors degree in agricultural economics, business or related field. Ability to make sound judgments is required. The position requires an understanding of credit extension, credit administration, portfolio management, and business development procedures. Solid organizational, interpersonal, communication, problem solving, analytical, negotiating, and influencing skills are required. The incumbent must have a comprehensive knowledge of loan products and services and credit operations; knowledge of farm production methods and products; and in-depth understanding of finance and macroeconomics. The incumbent must demonstrate effective team building and processing skills. The understanding of and ability to use various computer business/financial applications is required. |

The position includes developing work flow diagrams, business cases, cost benefit analysis, estimating project size and cost, projecting delivery dates and assuring the delivery of quality projects according to plan. Will need to communicate at various levels, to different interest groups within the organization, use other appropriate software for user documentation. Provides Quality Assurance and assist in the development and delivery of user training programs. |

This team member prepares timely and accurate static and ad hoc portfolio reports, while also closely coordinating crop insurance activities with all levels of the sales function. This includes monitoring and maintaining licensing, continuing education, and regulatory logs, updating internal and external websites, and maintaining a thorough understanding of loan and crop insurance products, processes and procedures.

| Qualifications: |
The minimum requirements for this position include: a bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, or related field; a working knowledge of farm operations, the agriculture industry, accounting practices, and insurance processing and servicing; and intermediate competence in PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Crystal and MS Reporting Services. Excellent communication and presentation skills are also required.
